We Know Our Whys; What’s Yours
Heart Disease is the number 1 killer of Americans. But we all have a reason to make that statistic different.
How Military Hearts Matter Began
It began with Holly Vega and a drive to better understand a healthy family member’s sudden cardiac arrest. The doctor she questioned directed her to the American Heart Association. There Holly began to hear the stories of others and saw a need within the military community.
The very first MHM event was a Heart Awareness “GO RED” Military Spouse event at 29 Palms through L.I.N.K.S. This event was a big success and led to the opportunity to host more “GO RED” events.
From an international luncheon heart health event to helping lead the heart walks in Tampa, Florida, MHM has shown up to support the hearts that serve.
At these events stories have poured in , and continue to do so.
This ultimately led to the establishment and the continuation of Military Hearts Matter. A team was built, and Military Hearts Matter is now a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, dedicated to supporting the hearts that serve.
There are many ways you can get involved with MHM. Perhaps you have a story of your own you would like to share. There are local American Heart Association chapters you can join, and we are always looking for ambassadors to represent our military community. Our military hearts matter and they will only grow stronger when we come together.
